Camelopardus Constellation

Origin of the Constellation

Camelopardus is a modern constellation. According to Ian Ridpath, it was invented by the Dutch theologian and astronomer Petrus Plancius. Both Ridpath and Julius D. W. Staal state that the German astronomer Jakob Bartsch included the constellation on a star map in 1614 (Ridpath) or 1624 (Staal).

The constellation contains no stars brighter than fourth magnitude. There is no classical mythology associated with it. ‘
