Hydrus

The Watersnake (male)

Hydrus Constellation

Origin of the Constellation

Hydrus was created by the Dutch navigators Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman, who charted the southern skies in 1595 - 1597. Hydrus was apparently created as a companion for the female watersnake Hydra.
